Boulevard Companies

There’s something special about breathing new life into an old home.

The 1891 Carpenter House is exactly the kind of project we love at Boulevard Companies—restoring historic character while creating spaces that work beautifully for modern life.

We’re especially proud of this kitchen renovation, which was recently recognized with 3rd Place nationally in the KCMA Design Awards. Huge congratulations to Carissa Trygstad and the Showplace Cabinetry team for their incredible design and craftsmanship.

Most of all, we’ve loved sharing the creative process with our friends Robert D Trzynka and John Marshall. Projects like this are about more than construction—they’re about collaboration, creativity, solving problems together, and bringing a shared vision to life.

That’s what makes historic restoration so rewarding and why we love doing it.

It’s been a few weeks of fun project wrap-ups for us, and this one feels especially rewarding.

We’ve officially completed a multi-year renovation and restoration of our 1940s three-plex next to Perch on Grange Ave. When we purchased the property, windows were boarded or broken, buckets were catching water from the sinks, and the building lacked modern heating and cooling altogether.

Rather than erase its history, we chose to lean into the 1940s—pairing original charm with a thoughtful, modern remodel. With all-new windows and siding, new bathrooms, updated systems, and a complete top-to-bottom renovation, this building has been given a second life while honoring its roots.

And the best part—if you’re looking for a chic new place to live, this one is ready. Showings are now available and can be scheduled directly through Zillow.
