Real Talk: We are close to capacity on dogs. There is no other way to say it.
We have 80 Dog kennels at our facility, not including the City Stray building. Right now only 6 of our kennels are unoccupied. Why haven’t these been filled? Because they are under construction from our water pipe burst back in December, and cannot be used.
ALL of our available kennels are full, we have even had to resort to drop kennels, office pets, & keeping pets in foster longer than needed. More than 50 dogs are ready RIGHT NOW and waiting for their forever homes, and it has been growing every day. The other 30 are dogs waiting for their time to shine.
Our staff and volunteers are exhausted. We get hundreds, if not thousands of phone calls, emails, and community members stopping by the shelter begging for help every week. Unfortunately, we cannot keep up. We are being forced to schedule surrenders weeks in advance, just to make sure we have space for them. We have heart –warming adoptions every day, yet the intake of animals swamps the number going out.
We know we aren’t the only ones; our rescue partners are struggling as well. Struggling to find adoptions, fosters, and other facilities around the country to help care for the thousands of animals that find themselves homeless.
We need Adopters. We need Fosters. We need our community to step up and help animals in need.
Please Consider Adopting. Please share with your friends. Please help us.
