🏡 June is National Homeownership Month, and I want to share a story that changed the course of my life.
At 22 years old, fresh out of college, in the middle of COVID, my parents suggested that I buy a house. I thought they were absolutely crazy.
I had just graduated, didn't have money saved for a down payment, and honestly believed homeownership was something you did after you got married. I assumed there was no way I could afford a home on my own.
Thankfully, my parents encouraged me to explore my options anyway.
That's when I learned about first-time homebuyer programs and discovered that buying a home was actually possible. In fact, I was able to purchase my first home with no money down. That decision completely changed my future.
Not only did I have a place to call my own, but I started building equity instead of paying rent. Today, that same home is a rental property that generates passive income while continuing to build wealth through appreciation and equity growth.
Looking back, buying that house was one of the best financial decisions I've ever made.
What's interesting is that my story isn't the norm. The median age of a first-time homebuyer today is around 40 years old, and first-time buyers make up the smallest share of home purchases in decades. Yet single women continue to outpace single men in homeownership, proving that you don't have to wait for the "perfect" time or the "perfect" life circumstances to invest in your future.
That experience is what inspired me to get into real estate.
I don't just sell houses, I genuinely believe real estate is one of the most powerful tools for building long-term wealth and creating opportunities for future generations.
Every day, I get to help people realize that homeownership may be more achievable than they think. Whether it's a first home, a dream home, or an investment property, I love helping people take that first step.
Because if a 22-year-old college graduate during COVID could become a homeowner, imagine what's possible when you have the right plan and the right people in your corner. ❤️
