My great great grandfather came to Door County to first harvest the timber that covered the land, primarily in the Jacksonport area. My great great grandfather was a farmer so the harvesting of timber was a way for him to earn the funds to purchase farm land, which he did and lots of it. My great grandfather was a farmer too, as well as an entrepreneur. In 1905 he built the structure in West Jacksonport know as Bley’s Bar. He bought additional farm land and farms and as each of his 13 children married they received a farm homestead. Some of those original homesteads remain in the Bley family today. So, I love real estate but more importantly I love this land, this area, and look forward to sharing with you how special it is and why you might want to call it your Door County home.
