There’s something powerful about how a home feels, and scent is one of the most overlooked elements of that experience.

A huge thank you to Mark Brenner of MEB Architects (https://www.mebarchitect.com/) for introducing me to this scent diffuser system. At GOGO, we’re always exploring thoughtful ways to support the sensory experience of home, and this is such an interesting option for creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere.

These systems can be placed locally within a specific room or integrated into the air handler for central distribution throughout the home. The unit linked here, the ARO 25 MAX, is designed for spaces up to 1,500 sq ft and includes Bluetooth control for easy customization.

Scent has the ability to shift energy, trigger memory, and support the nervous system in subtle but meaningful ways. It’s another layer in creating homes that nourish mind, body, and soul.

Sometimes the most meaningful design moments come from reimagining what already exists.

In the final part of this West Loop condo walkthrough, I share how we integrated existing furnishings into the new design, particularly within the bedroom and powder room.

Rather than starting from scratch, we looked closely at the pieces our clients already loved and asked a different question:

How can these elements evolve alongside this new chapter of life?

In the bedroom, familiar furnishings became part of a softer, more restorative atmosphere through layered texture, calming tones, and intentional lighting.

In the powder room, existing elements were refreshed and elevated with new materials and thoughtful details, creating a space that feels both personal and quietly refined.

This is one of the things I love most about holistic interior design. A home does not need to erase its history to feel renewed. Often, the most soulful spaces are the ones that carry pieces of the past forward in a new way.

Thank you for following along on this transformation. We loved helping this home become a true reflection of the people living in it.

Light is one of the most powerful tools we have in design, and one of the most overlooked.

It’s not just about visibility. It’s about regulation.

Our brains are constantly reading our environment, and light plays a major role in that.

- Natural light supports emotional balance and energy
- Harsh lighting can create subtle tension in the body
- Soft, layered light helps signal safety and calm
- The way light moves through a space shapes how we experience it

When we design lighting intentionally, we’re not just designing a room, we’re supporting how someone feels in that room throughout the day.

This is a core part of neurodesign, creating spaces that work with the nervous system, not against it.

Circadian lighting, simplified.

A few small shifts that make a real difference:

- Bright + cool in the morning ☀️
- Warm + soft in the evening
- Layer your lighting
- Add dimmers wherever you can

Your home should support your rhythm, not fight it.

When I talk about holistic design, I’m not talking about a style.

I’m talking about an approach.

It means we consider the full experience of living in a space, not just how it looks in a photo.

- How the light feels in the morning
- How the space supports you at the end of a long day
- Whether it brings a sense of calm or subtle overwhelm
- How it reflects your personality and your life

Over time, I’ve seen that the most successful spaces aren’t the most “perfect.” They’re the ones that feel aligned.

Aligned with the person, their rhythm, and their needs.

That’s what we aim to create every time.

We’re wired to feel better around nature. 🌿

Biophilic design brings that connection indoors in a way that feels natural and supportive, not forced.

It doesn’t have to mean filling your home with plants (although that helps). It can be as simple as:

- Maximizing natural light
- Using organic materials like wood, linen, or stone
- Incorporating natural textures and patterns
- Creating visual connection to the outdoors

These elements help regulate the nervous system, often without you even realizing it.

It’s a quiet shift, but a powerful one.

There’s no single “right” style.

What works beautifully for one home can feel completely off in another.

Because great design isn’t about following a trend. It’s about understanding the person living in the space.

How they move through their day, what calms them, what inspires them.

That’s where we begin. Explore more here: https://gogodesigngroup.com/contact/

I didn’t launch GOGO Design Group just to create beautiful homes. I must have intuitively felt how deeply our environments affect us, how a living space can either calm you or keep you on edge, and how it can support your well-being or quietly drain it.

There was a moment when I realized design wasn’t just about aesthetics, it also impacts us emotionally, physically, even neurologically. 🧠

That changed everything.

Today, every project we take on is rooted in that understanding. We design spaces that feel grounding, personal, and aligned with the people who live in them.

Spaces that don’t just look good, but feel right.

Your lighting does more than illuminate a room. It quietly shapes how you feel, think, and rest while regulating your nervous system.

Circadian lighting programmed into specifically designed recessed can lights supports your body’s natural rhythm and sleep wake cycle throughout the day. Cooler, brighter light in the morning helps you feel alert and focused. Warmer, softer light in the evening signals your body to wind down and prepare for sleep.

When your home works with your biology instead of against it, everything feels different. Sleep improves, energy levels are regulated throughout the day and emotional balance is supported. Your living space begins to feel nourishing, not draining.

This is what we mean when we say design can care for you.
