Construction is underway at Good Counsel Meadows in Mankato, with several 3 and 4-bedroom homes taking shape.

Through the Partnership Community Land Trust (PCLT), income-qualified buyers will have the opportunity to purchase a newly built home starting in the lower $200,000s.

Homes are expected to be available beginning in late fall 2026, and a waitlist is now forming for qualified buyers.

Our friends at Southwest Initiative Foundation are partnering with Rural Voice and hosting a town hall discussion around housing within the region. It's a great opportunity to discuss challenges, hear of commonalities with neighbor communities and hear about creative solutions across the region.

Join us at Rural Voice on Sept. 8 at The Upper Room Marshall.

This year’s conversation will focus on an issue we hear about throughout Southwest Minnesota: housing and its connection to our region’s ability to attract and retain workers. Moderated by Minnesota Public Radio 's Kerri Miller, the discussion will bring together local voices to talk about the challenges we’re facing and, importantly, the ideas and solutions emerging from rural communities.

Doors open at 5 p.m., with food and a cash bar available. The town hall begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public. We hope you’ll join us—and help us spread the word.

We’ll also be at the 2026 Annual RSO & Volunteer Fair at Minnesota State University, Mankato this Wednesday, September 2, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the Centennial Student Union Mall.

Last week, several staff traveled to Miami for the NeighborWorks Training Institute! 🌴☀️

It was a great opportunity to learn from industry experts, connect with affordable housing and community development professionals from across the country, and gain new ideas and perspectives to bring back to our work and the communities we serve.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and investing in the work we do. A big thank you to NeighborWorks America for providing such top-notch training and for bringing together passionate professionals who are all working toward stronger communities and better places to call home.

Friday, August 7th was a great night at Crafting Community in Luverne! 🎨👋

From crafting and conversation to great food, live music, and sharing more about the work we do across southern Minnesota—including the Reisch Twinhomes we’re building in partnership with the City of Luverne and Minnesota Housing—it was wonderful to connect with so many community members.

🎶 Thank you to the McFolke Brothers for the music, Sheep Flockers Food Truck for the delicious food, and Take 16 Brewing Company for providing such a great space and atmosphere. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special!
