Over three years ago, this lovely lady and I crossed paths and started a journey to sell a home that carried a lot of memories and yet needed a lot of work - more than her family could handle - and so we needed to find someone new who would love the home like she and her family did and would restore it to its former glory so that new memories could be made. We found that person and in a bittersweet moment were able to say goodbye to what has been and hello to what now lies ahead…..Congratulations!

Hospice Foundation of the South Acquires Land for Second Hospice House in Western St. Tammany Parish

COVINGTON, LA - March 14, 2025 - The Hospice Foundation of the South is proud to announce the acquisition of land in western St. Tammany Parish for the construction of its second Hospice House facility- Hospice House West: “Connie’s Cottage” in memory of Connie Hulsey-Shephard. This milestone marks a significant expansion of compassionate end-of-life care services in the region.

The new facility will complement the Foundation's existing Hospice House in Slidell, addressing the growing need for specialized end of life care in St. Tammany Parish and surrounding communities. The expansion aims to ensure that more families have access to dignified, comfortable care for their loved ones during life's final journey.

"This land acquisition represents a crucial step forward in our mission to provide compassionate end-of-life care to all who need it," said Miranda Linday, Executive Director of Hospice Foundation of the South and the Hospice House. "Our current Hospice House has been a blessing to nearly 500 families, but the demand for this unique service continues to grow. This second location will allow us to extend our reach and support more families during their time of greatest need."

In conjunction with this announcement, the Foundation is launching a capital campaign to raise $500,000 to support the development of the new facility. The "Building Compassion, Building Hope" campaign will fund essential infrastructure and ensure the new Hospice House provides the same exceptional level of care that has become synonymous with the Hospice House in Slidell.

The campaign will feature various community engagement opportunities, including:
• Naming opportunities for donors
• Community fundraising events
• Corporate sponsorship opportunities
• Volunteer involvement initiatives

"We invite individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout St. Tammany Parish to join us in this important mission," said Cody dePascual, Board Chairman. "Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us closer to providing more families with the peace, dignity, and compassionate care they deserve during life's most challenging transition."

Here's a snapshot of how much inventory we have right now in the Slidell housing market.......What does that mean and why does it matter?

In a real estate market, a 6-month supply of inventory refers to the amount of time it would take to sell all the homes currently listed for sale, assuming no new listings are added and the current sales pace continues.

What It Indicates:

For Slidell, right now, this graph indicates that we are in a "balanced market". Generally, a six-month supply is considered a neutral or balanced market—meaning there is an equal balance between buyers and sellers. That means that whether you need to buy or sell - it's a good time to enter the market.

It the Inventory was LESS than six months it's typically seen as a "seller’s market", where demand exceeds supply, leading to rising home prices.

If the Inventory was MORE than six months: it's typically seen as a "buyer’s market", where supply exceeds demand, often leading to lower home prices or longer selling times.
