What makes a woman powerful?

I asked entrepreneur and Trellus CEO Adam Haber that question during my limited series, Secrets of Powerful Men, and I loved where his answer went.

For Adam, a powerful woman has intelligence, conviction and presence. She is thoughtful and supportive, but she also refuses to allow someone else to diminish her or push her aside.

He also acknowledged that he believes strength comes from knowing what you bring to the table, standing your ground and continuing to move forward.
Be strong in your message:
“I’m here, and I have a lot to offer.”

That’s a definition of power worth talking about.

Can a horse help us heal?

My conversation with Lisa Gatti, Founder and CEO of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, opened my eyes to just how powerful the connection between horses and humans can be.

Lisa explained that horses are incredibly sensitive to body language and emotions. They provide immediate, honest feedback and can help people build trust, confidence, connection and emotional awareness.

At Pal-O-Mine, horses are part of programs serving children and adults with disabilities, trauma and abuse survivors, veterans, first responders, and people facing mental health challenges.

And sometimes, Lisa says, a horse seems to recognize what we’re feeling before we recognize it ourselves.

Healing doesn’t always happen through words. Sometimes it happens through connection.

More than 30 years later, Pediatric Cardio Thoracic Surgeon, Dr Sean Levchuck still remembers the advice to a successful relationship.

During our conversation on the Secrets of Powerful Women Podcast, Sean talked openly about marriage and the enormous role his wife played while he was building his career and they were raising their children.

There were nights he would come home, have dinner with his family, put the kids to bed, then go back to work until two or three in the morning.

But he also talked about making it to baseball games and tennis matches because he knew those years with his children would go by quickly.

And when he talks about his success, he is quick to acknowledge his wife and their partnership.

That’s another reason I’m doing this special series, Secrets of Powerful Men.
