This post isn’t meant to sell you anything — it’s something I think about often when helping my clients navigate the ups and downs of buying and selling.

Emotion on Both Sides of the Door

Sometimes we forget that a real estate transaction isn’t just about property — it’s about people. Behind every front door is a story, and every move marks both an ending and a beginning.

Buying and selling a home is more than just a transaction — it’s personal. It’s a place full of memories for one person, and a fresh start for another.

To Sellers:
You may treasure the squeaky front door your late father built by hand — to you, it’s a sound filled with love and memory. To a buyer who doesn’t know the story, it might simply seem like something that needs fixing. That wallpaper might remind you of raising your children, but to a buyer it’s simply a style they want to change. The kitchen you see as the heart of your home may be the space where a buyer wants to start fresh with new cabinets and appliances. It’s okay to feel attached, but it’s also okay for someone else to want to make changes.
