One of Tennessee’s best spring festivals...the Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival brings the town of Portland’s berry history to life each May! The event began in 1941, when strawberries were the town’s top industry. In the early 1900s, local farms shipped out up to 30 railroad cars of berries a day. Portland also had a crate factory, canning plant, fruit processor, and freezing plant that supplied strawberries to Breyers Ice Cream and other national brands. Today, more than 40,000 people gather to celebrate that past. You can explore 250+ vendors, enjoy live music on two stages, watch magic shows, see a Robocars demo, and stay for the parade. Families line up for the Rotary Pancake Breakfast, the Strawberry Stride 5K, and KidTown USA with all-day play for $5. Fresh berries are sold by local farmers while supplies last. The 85th Annual Festival is May 9, 2026, with the Strawberry Jam Concert & Fireworks on May 8, 2026 from 5:00–9:00pm...and you'll find a golf tournament and a few other events to enjoy in the week leading up to this classic festival in the Volunteer State!
