Last week in Southern Maryland saw a 9% increase in new purchase contracts, even while new listings for the week dropped by 9.1%. We are one of only 3 subregions in the Mid-Atlantic Bright MLS service area who saw a decrease in new listings last week -- the other two being Washington Metro and Maryland Eastern Shore.

🏡The stats for last week, ending 4/19/26, courtesy of BrightMLS. Chief Economist Lisa Sturtevant, had this to say:
"Southern Maryland is the only sub-region [of the Bright MLS Mid-Atlantic coverage area] to see year-over-year decrease in contracts for the week. A dip in rates and more inventory could be enticing buyers as the spring market gears up."
