Spreading kindness and giving back to our community – Volunteering is the perfect way to make a positive impact and be part of something bigger than ourselves!

We had an amazing day packing toys for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Program this year. The holidays are a time we get the opportunity to look forward to, but for many, it’s not. It’s a time of struggle, sacrifice, and pain. To be fortunate enough to give our time is an honor and a privilege that we will continue to use for good in our community.

Serving others is the best way to serve yourself; let's come together and make a positive impact on our communities together!

“With the pandemic in the rearview mirror, people are looking for social, active, and fun experiences, the perfect storm for pickleball to take off.

Pickleball is coming for America’s malls, benefiting mall owners as they strive to diversify their tenant base.

According to USA Pickleball, as of January 2023, there are over 10,000 pickleball facilities in the US, and roughly 130 new facilities were added monthly in 2022!



Unlike many outdoor pickleball facilities, those in malls are not subject to noise complaints from neighbors or nearby tennis players.

The number of pickleball players grew by 159% from 2019 to 2022 and is projected to keep on pickling!!

A hearty “Bon Voyage!” to our summer intern, Max Good, as he leaves us to study for a semester in Valencia, Spain.

A junior economics major at Bates College, Max was able to help us audit every single one of our tenant leases for notable exceptions, research fire & security measures at our spaces and meet with economic development directors of municipalities where we have properties.

Creating an intern program helps companies get exposed to the fresh perspectives that students bring. Intern programs create a pipeline for new hires and provide mentorship opportunities for existing employees. We know this is true; one of our rising associates focused on brokerage, Dean August, was an intern with us while he studied at Ohio State University. Research shows that former interns stay longer at their company than employees who have never had an internship.

Sage advice from the society of human relations management . . .

- Make interns matter – give them substantive work.
- Prioritize interns – involve them with some of your most important projects.
- Give interns regular feedback so that they learn.
- Expose their work – let everyone know what they are working on, accomplishing, and learning.

Max has already told us that he is pretty certain he will pursue a career in commercial real estate because of the variety of opportunities it can deliver.

We’ve seen a lot of examples of the growth of experiential retail concepts, from escape rooms to pickle ball.

Are you worried that if you bring on an experiential retail concept that it could be just a fad and be here today and gone tomorrow?

We think bringing on an experiential retailer is only a win for a property.

In the second quarter of 2022, a JLL research report revealed that traffic to experiential destinations had “soared” nearly 40% YOY.
