I’ve heard people write off Kalispell and the Flathead Valley for all kinds of reasons—and most of the time, they’re repeating something they read online or heard from someone who hasn’t been here in years.

The funny part? Once people actually spend some time here, their opinion often changes pretty quickly.

Every city has its reputation, but it rarely tells the whole story. If you’re considering moving to Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, or somewhere else in Northwest Montana, I always recommend exploring the neighborhoods and experiencing what everyday life actually feels like before making up your mind.

September is one of my favorite months in the Flathead Valley.

The weather is perfect for getting outside, exploring Kalispell and the surrounding area, and there are always fun local events happening around town.
