Mortgage rates edged slightly lower this week as markets digested a delayed November jobs report, which showed that the national unemployment rate climbed to a four-year high.
The average 30-year fixed rate slipped to 6.21% for the week ending Dec. 18, down from 6.22% the prior week, according to Freddie Mac. The report showed unemployment rose 0.2 percentage points to 4.6%, the highest level since September 2021.
