I may have chosen this career path, but I also "married into" it.
If you were in Sonoma at any time over the past 45 years, you probably knew my late mother-in-law, Cynthia Wood. I'd go as far as to guess that anyone who spent time here knew her. She was one of the main driving forces behind my choosing this career, but she wasn't there to walk this path with me.
In 1983, she and my father-in-law, Frank, started Woodfield Properties with a fairly simple idea: take care of homes and the people who love them. They were the first to offer vacation rentals in Sonoma Valley. Nobody was doing it yet. They just believed Sonoma W**e Country was worth showing people properly.
In 2013, Maddie and I took over the business her parents built. I served as the broker. Same phones, same homeowners.
That is the part nobody tells you about a family business. You do not inherit a company. You inherit everyone who trusted it.
Cynthia is the reason my family is immersed in real estate. She encouraged me to walk this path, and trusted Maddie and I to carry on the legacy of Woodfield Properties.
Now, I continue to carry that torch through my work at Sotheby's Realty W**e Country, the same brokerage where Cynthia served for decades.
