It’s the end of an era in Sonoma as Vella Cheese Company closes its doors after 94 years of artisan cheesemaking. In a fitting testament to how loved the family business has been, customers bought up its remaining inventory far faster than expected, bringing the retail shop to an early close.

Sonoma’s oldest fromagerie, Vella Cheese Company, which announced in August it was ending its artisan cheese production, has now shut down its Second Street East retail operations.
