The media is talking about how Chicago is so crime ridden… Meanwhile…
64th and Stony Island will soon look alot different. I knew something was coming when they started remodeling 6430 S. Stony Island which was originally all subsidized and affordable housing.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a planned hotel tower development at 6402 S. Stony Island. Located near the Obama Presidential Center, the project site is a vacant lot at the southwest corner of S. Stony Island Ave and E. 64th St. Aquinnah Investment Trust is leading the development. I’m pretty sure this will be a Marriott.
Designed by Stantec, the 26-story hotel tower is expected to stand 316 feet in height and provide 250 hotel rooms, office space, hotel support spaces, 118 parking spaces and 120 jobs!
Not to mention, Metra has just invested $80 million to fully transform the 63rd St., Woodlawn station and also to reopen the 60th St. station which has been closed forever. The 60th St. station will let you out right at the Obama library. Tourist from all over the world will now be on 63rd St., you know, the one King Von said he’s not from.
If I hadn’t told you before, I’m telling you now. Yesterday’s Woodlawn is not today’s Woodlawn.
But tell me, would you shop, play and dine here??
