The first time rescuers laid eyes on Poleng, they couldn't believe what they were seeing. Wandering the streets of Indonesia, he was covered in thick, crusted layers of mange so severe that his body almost looked like stone. It was, without question, the worst case the team at Little Steps Matter had ever encountered. But before he was found, a kind local family had already been feeding him and watching over him, and when they realized his condition was beyond their help, they asked the rescue team to step in.

He was a gentle dog who should have been protected. Instead, he was left behind in a dark doghouse, exposed to the elements, suffering alone. Wile E. Coyote wasn't like the other dogs at the Louisiana SPCA. Rescued from an isolated area, he kept to himself—calm, reserved, perfectly content to watch the world go by from his cozy spot. Staff figured he was just a laid-back guy.

Then came Tuesday night.

Someone gave him a pillow. A simple, innocent pillow. What no one realized was that hidden inside was a jackpot of fluffy feathers—and Wile had opinions.
