Keeping informed
Most of my friends know that the majority of my time is spent in doing mission work in Panama. Even though we live full-time in Panama, I have continued to keep my Florida Real Estate License up to date (always good to have a backup plan).
I recently had to complete my continuing education hours and one of the courses I took was "technology tools, trends, and risk management." It is actually one of the better courses I have taken, particularly the information about social media and technology marketing.
There are days that the constant bombardment of data, reels, tik tok videos and other content seem almost overwhelming, but after taking this course I understand. Everyone is competing for our attention, so implementing a solid plan is important. Typically, these are the driving factors in social media success:
Quality: creating professionally produced content that people want to see and share.
Consistent and current: You need more than one touch point with clients. You want to give people a reason to come back and follow your feed.
Leverage: This requires you to cross post content. Have all your different social media outlets connected. Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Linkedin, etc.
Result Driven: What outcomes are you trying to create with your social media content. Do you want more subscribers? More shared content? Is there a call to action of any kind?
Measurable: How do you know the content you post is having any impact? How many views, click-throughs, and responses are you getting to your content.
As you read this, you may feel as I do. I have a love/hate relationship with social media, but if we are going to impact the world in which we live, we better learn to use it to our advantage. Whether you are building a business, or looking to share Jesus with a lost world - social media is one more avenue to get your message out.
