Housing supply is plunging in some parts of the the US and surging in others as high mortgage rates split the housing market. The result is a more active housing market in the Southeast US, which contains 18 of the 20 hottest housing markets, according to Bankrate's Housing Heat Index.

The housing market has been split my shifting dynamics. Across much of the country, there are few homes for sale, but one market is bucking the trend.
