HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION INFORMATION 🏡

If you own a home, signing up for a homestead exemption can save you money on your property taxes.

📅 Application Period:
January 5 – April 1, 2026 (applications are only accepted during this time)

📍 Apply In Person:
DeSoto County Tax Assessor’s Office
365 Losher Street, Suite 100, Hernando
Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (except holidays)

ℹ️ Important to Know:
• A Homestead Exemption is not automatic — residents must apply
• Once approved, you do not need to reapply each year unless certain changes occur

You may need to apply or reapply if any of the following apply to you:
• You purchased a home in 2025
• You turned 65 in 2025
• You were newly married or divorced and own a home
• You are certified 100% disabled
• You are 90 or older
