For over seven years, working directly with people experiencing homelessness, hardship, and crisis through TEAM WORKZ has taught me one important truth:
None of us are truly immune from tragedy.
Life can change overnight due to circumstances beyond our control:
🔹 A sudden illness or medical emergency
🔹 The death of a loved one
🔹 A catastrophic life event
🔹 Unexpected job loss
🔹 Mental health struggles
🔹 Family crisis
🔹 An economic downturn
When I speak to community groups, I often remind them that many of the people we serve once lived comfortable, successful lives. Some were wealthy, traveled the world, or even received national recognition for their work. Yet today, those same individuals are asking for a tent, a sleeping bag, and enough food to survive another week.
No one ever believes it can happen to them—until it does.
I know this personally because I have faced difficult times in my own life. Hardship takes a heavy toll mentally and emotionally—the fear, depression, and sadness are deeply real. But there is hope. Many of those we help do recover, rebuild, and rise again. Their stories are powerful and inspiring, showing that with the right support, transformation is possible.
The best way to help isn't just to offer temporary relief—it's to create a WAY OUT.
