Last week, our KWOBX family lost a dear friend, colleague, and member of our community, Rick Kinne.
Rick brought a special energy to everything he did. He was always willing to share his knowledge, lend a hand, and support those around him. Whether he was leading Market Mondays, serving on our Career Development Committee, volunteering at RED Day, or simply taking the time to encourage a fellow agent, Rick made a lasting impact on our market center and the people within it.
Rick had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and supported. He lit up a room when he walked in, always greeting others with a smile and taking the time to connect. He was the kind of person you could count on to show up—usually early and ready to help however he could. A genuine friend and someone who made every class, event, and gathering better simply by being there.
Many throughout the Outer Banks also knew Rick through his music. Whether he was singing, playing guitar, or performing around town, he brought that same positive spirit and enthusiasm wherever he went.
Earlier this year, we were honored to recognize Rick as our 2025 WI4C2TES Culture Award recipient. It was a fitting reflection of the way he lived—showing up, giving back, and making those around him better.
Rick made our market center better, our community stronger, and our lives richer. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, clients, and loved ones during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life honoring Rick will be held Wednesday, June 17, from 6:00–9:00 PM at Art’s Place. Friends are invited to stop by, share memories, enjoy music, and celebrate a life that touched so many. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory may be made to the Dare County Animal Shelter or Meals on Wheels.
Rest easy, Rick. ❤️
