Dream a little dream…. A year ago, this was nothing more than a “One day we could…” dream. Last week it became reality. They are home owners🏡 They asked questions, got things in order and chose the perceived risk of going All In vs renting for another year. Want to know what they’re MOST excited about?! A huge backyard for those two dogs🙌🏻 (Personally, I am praying that the third bedroom will eventually evolve into a nursery🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 But that’s another story for another day😂). They have room to grow now and are close to the nature they’ve been craving but missing on the other side of town🌳 And they got a great deal in this current Buyer-Friendly environment! What is the best way to get the house you want? Know your numbers and work with a local lender and Realtor ahead of time. For more than 24 years, Texas has been home for me and my family. My husband, Tracy, and I moved here from Utah with our family of six, and we quickly realized Texas was exactly where we were meant to be. I still can’t choose a favorite place to live in Texas—and after 24 years, I’ve stopped trying!

Much of what I love about life revolves around home and community. I love baking for people, working in my garden, practicing yoga, volunteering, discovering new places, and—most of all—bringing people together. Serving others has always been an important part of who I am, and real estate has given me a wonderful way to continue doing that.

I’ve learned through the years that life experience has a way of shaping how we see our homes, our communities, and the decisions we make along the way. As a Realtor, I get to bring that experience to my clients—not just my knowledge of real estate, but the perspective that comes from having lived, moved, raised a family, built relationships, and experienced many different seasons of life.

Somehow it hits different when it’s your own kid buying the house😳 All the conversations and encouragement. All the dispelling of misunderstanding and downright lies the world tells young people🙏🏻 And still with all the amazing things, they don’t seem as excited as I thought they would be😂 Probably because buying a house IS possible, but it’s still a big deal, hidden behind a curtain until you peek behind it. I’m hoping they’ll let us take a peek with them so that it won’t seem quite as mysterious to other young people (or, not so young) who haven’t bought a house yet🏡 More to come….

Are mortgages a scam?💁🏻‍♀️ Well, I am a Realtor, so I believe leveraging someone else’s money to help you build wealth is definitely NOT a scam. But…you have to be smart about it and do your homework 🤓 Find honest, reputable lenders (probably local mortgage specialists vs call centers asking for your re-fi business😉) who work with honest, reputable Realtors and Title companies. Some people want zero responsibilities associated with where they live🏢 They simply want a utilitarian relationship with a building. It’s not a home where a life is built for long term dreams👍🏻. Home ownership is a responsibility and a different kind of investment than some people want✅ 🌶️Hot take: a mortgage for that person would probably feel like a scam. Which type are you? I would love to hear in the comments👇🏼

Someone could make the case that this story began in the 2nd grade?💁🏻‍♀️ Katie first encountered my family at that point. Not me. My son. But the Stillman seed got planted and then it grew in middle school and high school through the band and another son🎶. Katie and I finally connected when she started teaching at the elementary school behind me and she had one of my cookies 🍪 I can’t describe how excited I was when she texted me to explain how a cookie tied everything together. She has moved on to a new school and a new adventure now and her new 🏡 is much closer to her new life with her husband Brendan (who also went to school with my boys)❤️ School started today and Katie began year 5 as a teacher and bumped up to leading 6th graders to love learning! Congratulations on all the stuff Katie and Brendan! It’s been a great year for the Joneses🥳
