Amazing Patriotic moment I witnessed yesterday. I was in church. A lovely older couple sits in front of me every week. This service kind of fumbled along - the regular pastoral staff was on vacation. A pastor simply asked us all to stand. We did. The. The trumped player started playing Taps. The man in front of me IMMEDIATELY snapped to attention, shoulders back, elbows flexed, chin forward. Immediately upon the first few notes. No warning. He stayed at attention until after Taps was concluded. Then, he relaxed. After a few minutes (when he regularly skips ovations or sits quickly during other services because it’s long).
He STOOD. At ATTENTION. Until it was over.

That made a mark on me. I noticed.
