The Dallas Mavericks just launched plans for a giant multibillion-dollar arena district.

But they aren’t proposing to build it downtown. Instead, they've filed to rezone 112 acres at the old Valley View Mall site off 635. They haven't bought the land yet, but they've secured purchase options on 104 acres of it.

While they love the site's easy highway access, there's another huge motivator. The Mavericks don't own the area around their current arena, meaning they miss out on most of the revenue spent at nearby hotels and restaurants on game nights.

By securing this land, they're aiming to build and control their own district. Their proposed plan includes a high-end hotel, team headquarters, and a separate 4,000 to 5,000-seat concert venue.

So what happens to the American Airlines Center?

The Mavs will continue playing downtown through 2031. But with the Dallas Stars also pursuing a new arena in Plano, the current stadium could eventually lose both of its main teams.

Fort Worth is getting a giant new 629-acre community right near Eagle Mountain Lake — complete with miles of scenic walking trails and a modern amenity center.

It's part of a giant $200 million road upgrade happening in northwest Fort Worth. The area's growing so fast that the city just opened a brand-new $271 million high school campus right down the street.

The current plan for this neighborhood calls for about 1,761 homes built across 4 phases. You can choose from 4 different builders with lots up to 80 feet wide. The first lots should deliver in early 2027, and pricing isn't even public yet.

You're minutes from the lake, meaning your Saturday morning goes from drinking coffee on the porch to being on the water before anyone else is awake. Since 4 different builders are working here, the streets won't look like a copy-paste job.

Plus, you're right down the road from that giant new school built for 2,400 students.

Since they're still in the early planning stages, you can get on the builder lists now before the model homes open and the first phases sell out.

Just north of Dallas, a massive new entertainment hub is going up with a giant 36-hole mini-golf course, and construction just started.

Crews broke ground on August 31, 2026, inside the 135-acre Farm development, right next to Chicken N Pickle.

Inside, they're building 16 traditional lanes, 8 duckpin lanes, escape rooms, and a secret immersive experience called Creative Works Limitless, but they haven't shared what that actually is yet. Outside features that giant 36-hole mini-golf course with night lighting and a full bar serving craft cocktails.

So why did this take over 5 years to start?

The city originally approved this in 2022, but those plans expired. A new partner stepped in to get the project moving again, and they're now targeting a late 2027 opening.

A giant electric flying taxi hub just opened in Dallas-Fort Worth.

A company called Joby Aviation rented 45,000 square feet at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. They're using this space as a base to test their new electric aircraft.

But what does a flying taxi actually look like?

It's an all-electric aircraft built for 1 pilot and 4 passengers. It flies up to 200 mph, and once it's in the air, it's quieter than a normal conversation.

They're starting inside an existing warehouse because it has direct access to the airport taxiways. It's a major deal because the federal government selected a Texas statewide proposal as 1 of only 8 winners in the country to test this.

So when do we actually get to ride in one?

Joby plans to run local test flights in September 2026, and they're targeting carrying their first passengers by the end of 2026. They're already partnering with a developer to find landing sites across the state.

A massive 641-acre neighborhood just opened in Celina with a resort-style pool, 6 miles of trails, and over 1,800 homes planned.

The city actually stopped this project until the developer agreed to put in more parks, wider sidewalks, and build the main road first so traffic doesn't back up. The first homes are selling right now starting around $410,000 and going up to $770,000, with townhomes coming this fall.

When you drive home, you'll pass a giant 35-foot steel tree sculpture that glows at night. And on top of that, they're building pickleball courts, a splash pad, and a hammock park. Your kids will go to Celina schools, and they're all less than 2.5 miles away.

McKinney is getting a giant, nearly $1 billion AI tech campus, and construction just started.

A company from Taiwan called LITEON is building it near Highway 75. The campus is over 650,000 square feet — that's about 11 football fields of space.

So what are they actually making inside?

Most people think of computer chips, but they're building the power supplies and backup batteries that keep AI servers running.

But here's what's interesting about how fast they're moving.

They held a blessing ceremony on August 18th, 2026, but they didn't build this from scratch. They bought two existing buildings for $108 million, so they're just remodeling the inside.

So why did they pick McKinney?

They looked at Washington and Tennessee, but chose us for our engineering talent. It's expected to bring over 600 jobs, with operations starting in 2027.

Fort Worth just got a huge $540 million Texas A&M campus.

On August 5th, 2026, the school opened its first building and broke ground on a second. The first building is an 8-story academic center at 300 East 15th Street. It's over 228,000 square feet, which is about 5 football fields of space, and it has a giant glass wall so you can watch a working courtroom from the sidewalk.

But the law school only takes up half the building. The rest holds nursing labs, business classes, and aviation programs, which brings programs from Texas A&M, Tarleton State, and six Texas A&M System agencies together under one roof.

And that $240 million building isn't even the biggest part. They also broke ground on an 11-story, $300 million research tower next door, which is designed to let researchers and private companies work side-by-side starting in 2029.

But this is just the beginning. The university plans to build 3 more buildings here, and they could break ground on the next one in 7 to 9 months.
