Delighted to be quoted by Claudia Fisher and share some of many favorite places on the North Fork.

“Our waters and agricultural lands are the heart and soul of the North Fork” “our indigenous ancestors farmed and fished here for thousands of years. Remarkably our local lifestyle and economy are still anchored by these traditions…”

“We have incredible natural light that has long infatuated artists and writers, land and water that yield fresh and diverse foods, and a lifestyle that includes sandy feet and outdoor showers.” 🌞

Visit or there is so much to enjoy!

My list was long but T&L included many 🌞🌞🌞🙏🏼

Today I woke to a beautiful landscape and more news of cruelty.
It’s hard to reconcile or weather the extremes of hope and loss that face us now. Life is fragile and short. Nature reminds us to witness the beauty everywhere. Why can’t we see it in each other too? Our souls and civilization depends upon it.

Movie night at North Fork’s beloved Greenport treasure. 🍿 So delighted that brains behind North Fork Arts Center saved the theater but are showcasing a brilliant mix of independent programming.

Last night Orient filmmaker Dana Ben-Ari’s new documentary was followed by Q&As with writer and subject of her newest film The Guy Who Got Cut Wrong, novelist Gary Shteyngart.

Ouch! It was powerful short inspired by Gary’s New Yorker essay about his botched circumcision and the traumatic results. His trademark resilient humor and immigrant back story gave clever insight into many cultural taboos, fears of a questionable practice.

It was a night of good story sharing.

Thanks Russell McCall and family for a delicious wine club dinner overlooking their vineyard and preserved lands of Corchaug.

The family has also preserved a pre-revolutionary marvel that was relocated from New Hampshire. This big beautiful barn was rebuilt as it was first built without nails, simply remarkable engineering.

Hyper local, slow minded fall menu : oysters, great greens & McCall’s grass fed beef short ribs superbly braised and apple crumb dessert.

More about the land: Archaeologist Ralph Solecki described Fort Corchaug in 1992 as the best preserved historic Indian site on the eastern seaboard. At the time, the site had never been cultivated or disturbed in its 340-year-old history. He believed it was the last historic remnant of the Corchaug Indians on eastern Long Island, and the best preserved of the forts linking the confederacy of the north and south fork Indians.

We live surrounded by history, my gratitude to all who have had the vision and resources to make sure it endures.
