As the air turns crisp on Mount Desert Island and the days grow shorter, there’s a subtle shift that happens both in the landscape and within ourselves. The rhythm slows. The gardens rest. And we begin turning inward, finding comfort in warmth, light, and gratitude.
We believe that this is one of the most beautiful times of year: the season of preparation, reflection, and renewal. Preparing your home and garden for winter is not just a task, it’s a ritual. It’s about aligning yourself with the natural world as it begins to rest and restore. From our homes to yours, wishing you warmth and comfort as the light fades.

Specialty containers are more than decoration — they set the mood, create atmosphere, and can even carry memories beyond the event.

By blending annuals for seasonal vibrancy with perennials that live on, we design containers that feel lush in the moment and meaningful for years to come.

Butterfly beds are one of our favorite things to create!
They invite movement, color, and a little bit of wild magic into the landscape — while also supporting essential pollinators like butterflies and bees.

Whether you lean toward a natural meadow style or a more refined garden bed, we’re sharing how to bring these pollinator-friendly spaces to life in our latest blog.

Now’s the perfect time to plant something beautiful — for you and the butterflies.

Not all brown grass is bad news.
Sometimes it’s not dying — it’s just resting.

Coastal Maine lawns often go dormant in the summer heat to protect themselves, and with the right care (and a little patience), they’ll wake up green and strong when the time is right.

Arra nailed it this week: the Asticu re-opened with a flourish we were there many steps of the way, with multiple crews on site happy to help wherever they were needed: from window boxes to container plantings to a really cool custom table top terrarium. In other news a new construction home set its roots in with sod and hand picked plantings for new garden beds. Hinckley hosted a fundraiser gala with custom container plantings designed by Hilary and Ben. The mowing crew lost a truck and was escorted home by Loki, the one ton, but their work never skipped a beat. A beloved client moved into their new patio and enjoyed smores as only native Mdi families can, on a homemade Arra original slate patio. Keith’s crew reclaimed long overgrown beds in somesville, Ayla learned how to lay sod, Jena’s shirt matched the truck, and Arra welcomed her newest member of the fleet: Maximus (named after the gladiator naturally). Where will we be and what will we do next week? One never knows, but it’s going to be epic and we can’t wait to see…

At every step, we prioritize collaboration, craftsmanship, and your vision. By working hand-in-hand with like-minded contractors and trusted suppliers, we ensure your property reflects your dreams.

Here, we partnered with Hodgdon Tyler Landscaping to install a stunning concrete paver patio using materials from Hammond Lumber and equipment from Doug Gott and Sons Construction. This seamless design mirrors the colors of an existing patio on-site, installed by AC Parsons, creating a cohesive and beautiful outdoor space.

Let’s build something exceptional together! 🌟
