One of the biggest mistakes buyers can make is assuming the current owner’s property tax bill will be their tax bill too.

When a property changes ownership, it can be reassessed based on its current market value. That means the taxes you see on the listing may be significantly different from what you will pay after purchasing the home.

This is especially important when the current owner has owned the property for many years and benefits from Homestead Exemption and Save Our Homes protections.

💡 Before you buy, know the numbers. Your Realtor should help you estimate the potential property taxes based on the new ownership, not simply rely on last year’s tax bill.
