Many of the folks I work with choose a home with the furry members of their family in mind. Here are some tips for pet-lovers purchasing a home:
🐾 Check out the neighborhood! Is it walkable? Do you see other folks out with their dogs?
🐾 Get familiar with local laws and regulations. City ordinances may include noise laws for barking dogs. Homeowners associations may have additional pet rules or restrictions.
🐾 What kind of flooring do you want? I often recommend hardwood floors, luxury vinyl plank or laminate to pet owners. If you have carpet, plan to get it replaced before you sell- carpets with clear pet damage can take away from your resale value. One place carpet is a good idea? On the stairs! This can help your pets get up and down safely.
🐾 Do you want a fenced yard? If you're buying a home without a fence, but plan to install one, check for any restrictions on type of fencing for your neighborhood.
