🔥 If your home was damaged or destroyed in the Spokane-area fires, please don’t overlook this.
There may be property tax relief available to you.
Under Washington State law, RCW 84.70, property owners whose real or personal property has been damaged or destroyed may be eligible for a reduction in assessed value and an abatement or refund of property taxes for the year the damage occurred. (Washington State Legislative Information)
And here’s something important: Spokane County’s Assessor’s Office has confirmed that wildfire victims may qualify for this relief. The Assessor can begin the process, but homeowners are encouraged to submit the destroyed-property form so the county is aware of the damage to their property. (Spokane County)
This is one small piece of financial relief that may help as families begin the long road of rebuilding.
