Yes, I am dating again. But seriously, folks, been working at Shadle Park vocational olympics adapted field day. Fun with realtor Sarah Bird at our booth with staging by where kids had to fix the staging to make it look like the picture, and open locks. Bicycles by Deron (do a bike repair), the solid waste division (pick up trash) and (pack a grocery bag full) were some of several participants at a great community event with several area high school's participating!

The Society of Freshwater Science has its annual meeting in Spokane, and several attending grad students partnered with for a fun couple of hours collecting macroinvertebrates in the little stream that runs through the Finch Arboretum. Found lots of plumeria and not many beetles and deduced that the stream was in good health considering it runs through a developed urban area. I learned microplastics can be a problem even in caddisflies, who may use microplastics to build part of their little shell exoskeleton thing. Fish may be ingesting the microplastic directly as well as through the invertebrates they eat. Equally important, I met a grad student from who shares my belief that pies are the best! And kudos to that little girl's mom for bringing her (picture #2) she has a future in science!

As you may know, ADUs are permitted in Spokane on residential lots. Here's an interesting story about how it's working in CA and OR.

Accessory Dwelling Units, or ADUs, are small, fully-functional secondary homes located on the same property as a main home, usually in the backyard, filling a vital need where housing has proved scant or expensive.
