⭐️ Community partner spotlight: When wildfires forced families to evacuate this summer, Union Gospel Mission opened its doors to several moms and kids who needed a safe place to land. It's one small piece of what UGM has been doing in Spokane for 75 years, and it's why we made sure part of our relief supplies ended up at their shelter.
UGM runs high-barrier shelters, meaning guests stay sober during their time there. Residents can stay up to 60 days (with a possible one-month extension), pitch in with a chore around the facility, and work with case managers on a plan for what comes next, whether that's permanent housing or just steady ground during a crisis. Their properties are some of the best-kept in the neighborhood, something UGM takes real pride in.
UGM doesn't accept federal funding. Everything runs on community support: donors, volunteers, and their thrift stores, which also help supply the shelters with seasonal clothing and other needs.
We delivered clothing, diapers, wipes, toiletries, blankets, pillows, and kids' items like toys and books, now in use at the Women's & Children's Shelter!
