As someone who lives in cougar country, I approve this message

🐾🌊 Cougars and the ocean aren’t something you expect to see together… but in 2023, that’s exactly what happened.

In an incredible and unforgettable wildlife encounter, this mountain lion was spotted swimming through the surf near Haystack Rock.

As beachgoers watched from a safe distance, the cougar made its way out to the rock before eventually turning around and swimming back to shore.

For everyone’s safety—including the cat’s—the beach was temporarily closed while wildlife officials monitored the situation. Thankfully, the cougar safely returned to land and disappeared back into its natural habitat.

It’s a powerful reminder that Oregon’s coastline isn’t just home to whales, seals, and seabirds—it’s also part of the territory of some of our most elusive wild animals. Nature always has a way of surprising us.

I graduated high school June 13, 1986…

In the reference in the movie, I believe - the actual day of Ferris Bueller’s Day off was in the first week of June 1985

As a high school student during the time, I can certainly say that what I was watching really tracked for me… What about you?
