Since it's Halloween week, let's talk about things that can be scary. 👻 🧟♂️ Typically it's something new, unknown and potentially risky. This is how many people feel about real estate investing.
Since my husband and I started buying rental properties in 2018, I've had a number of conversations with folks about real estate investing. It typically goes like this: "I'm really interested in buying a rental property but it kind of scares me to think about actually pulling the trigger."
Trust me when I say I felt the same way before we bought our first property. I'm the type of person that wants to know EVERYTHING before making a decision and I'm extremely risk-averse, which is a funny trait for someone who also considers themselves to be a serial entrepreneur.
But for me, it came down to the fact that the potential benefits of investing in real estate outweigh the costs (plus, I swear all of the wealthy people own real estate, so who am I to reinvent the wheel?!).
Benefits include:
*passive(ish) income
*appreciation over time
*tax benefits
*someone else paying down the mortgage
*building wealth for the future
*having a tangible asset
And best of all, the opportunity to learn how this all works so I can make even better purchases in the future. It's basically like getting paid to get a real estate investing education.
So what's your goal and how are you going to get there? Ours has always been to create lifestyle freedom for the future and have the ability to spend our time how we wish (which mostly involves traveling and being present for our daughter).
If you've been sitting on the sidelines thinking that you want to put your money somewhere that is going to give you better returns than what you're currently getting and you want the potential for income not tied to trading your time for money, reach out and let's chat.
There are so many different ways to get started with real estate investing, including ways to get in without a huge down payment or having the time-suck of being a landlord (eek!).
I’ve never regretted a single investment purchase we’ve made — I only regret that we didn’t start sooner.
