Fireworks Night on Lake Anna
Common Sense SAFETY RULES for all attending the LACA Fireworks Display:
Hundreds of boaters will make their way to the area around D**e Two for the display on July 6. For the safety of all involved, LACA asks that you do the following:
1. All boats MUST STAY BACK 1000 ft. (3 football fields) from D**e Two. Falling embers from the fireworks create a fire hazard. Perimeter boats will define the area.
2. All boats must display proper navigational lights while operating at night. Check your lights before you head. out. REMINDER: docking lights are NOT navigational lights and can blind other boaters.
3. Please turn off any other lighting on your boat once the fireworks begin.
4. Make sure you have a Coast Guard approved life jacket that fits everyone on board your boat.
5. When arriving and leaving the fireworks, slow down to a speed that allows you to maintain steerage and headway. Hundreds of boats create an enormous wake that make it very challenging, especially at night.
6. By law, all jet skis MUST be off the water at sunset.
7. REMINDER: Virginia law requires boaters to stay at least 200 feet from any law enforcement or emergency responder operating under blue or red lights. Give them a break, mind your wake!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Any boater who violates the 1000 foot exclusion zone in front of D**e 2 will cause the fireworks display to stop until that boater moves out, or is removed. This is a serious and unacceptable safety violation and will be treated as such.
The Lake Anna Rescue Group (LARG) will have units out on the holiday weekend to help ensure everyone has a fun and safe experience. LARG incudes:
-Law enforcement from DWR, Spotsylvania & Louisa
-Fire, Rescue and EMS from Spotsylvania and Louisa
-USCG Auxiliary and TowBoatUS
