Hello fellow realtors. This is important. I may have just been scammed. I was on desk duty at the office and got a call from what sounded like an elderly gentleman with a heavy accent. He called on a vacant lot that was expired. I told him this and he told me he would like more information and could I please text it to him. He told me he would send me a text on how to contact him so I gave him my cell number. While he was still on the office land line with me, he asked me if I got the text with the 6-digit code number. I said I did and he proceeded to ask me for the code. This is a product of Google Voice. I never got his text with all of his personal information so I bacame suspicious & my manager & I started researching Google Voice. It is legit but can be used by scammers to get your cell phone # & set up a phony identity. This is from Google Voice: "Google Voice is a free service that allows users to create a virtual phone number associated with their phone. However, some criminals use Google Voice to scam or impersonate others by obtaining verification codes from unsuspecting victims. This way, they can create a Google Voice account in the victim's name and use it to hide their identity or commit identity fraud. Google Voice verification is not a scam itself, but only if the user requested the code."
There were instructions I followed to remove your phone # from Google Voice and I hope it works. I did call the man back on the # that showed up on our office call log and he answered very coy & not saying much. When I questioned him about his call being a scam, he kept insisting it wasn't a scam & then said he was no longer interested in the land he called about & didn't want to talk to me further.
This is to let everyone be aware, especially if you have never encountered a call like this. I had never heard of Google Voice but now I know to be aware.

Hi Folks, I'm back and happy to say I have this lovely new listing in Brookridge Subdivision, a gated, 55+ community where there are NO LOT FEES & a LOW HOA fee, only $50 a month. Lovely, well-kept mobile home with recently painted interior in warm, soft colors, beautiful wood laminate floors, & a great, open, flowing floor plan. Walk into a sunroom/living room that opens into a large den/family area. The open kitchen has a breakfast bar and will accommodate a small table & chairs, plus an open dining room area. The master bedroom has not only a walled, mirrored door closet but a deep, walk-in closet too. Master bath has a walk-in shower. Second bath has a tub/shower combo. There is a large storage room with plenty of shelving & a washer-dryer area. The clubhouse & heated pool are only about 0.3 tenths of a mile from the home. Golfers, there is a private, 18-hole course in the park. Besides that, there are tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, bocce ball, bingo, crafts shows & many other social functions. Brookridge is close to shopping, restaurants, medical facilities and less than a mile from the Suncoast Express Way that leads to Tampa, St. Petersburg/Clearwater airports and events.

Sorry Diane and Karl, but I played hooky & missed the sales meeting on Wed. to go to the Ray's baseball game. I think it's only the second meeting I've missed in over 3 years with the company. I figured it would be a good game to go to, early in the day & against a West Coast team so most of the fans there would be Ray's fans. We lost but I still had a great time & great seat. Driving home I learned that it was announced that I was on the company wide top 10 list in production for the month. So glad to be with Dennis Realty and celebrating 40 years in Real Estate, a profession I love. But I love my Rays too and pull for them with a passion. Go Rays! 🥰
