Residents of Sugarmill Woods are invited to attend a special meeting designed to gather input regarding the future vision for Citrus County in 2050. This event provides an opportunity to engage with the team responsible for updating the Citrus County Comprehensive Plan and to contribute valuable perspectives and ideas.
The current plan, adopted in 1990, is being updated to ensure the preservation of our county’s distinctive character, small town charm and quality of life. The objectives for this update include establishing a vision for future growth, proactively planning for new development, enhancing decision-making processes, and addressing both current and anticipated opportunities within the county. Community input is essential in shaping land use, guiding infrastructure development, and safeguarding resources for the next thirty years. The meeting will address several key topics, including:
Recreation, Parks and Open Space Economic Development
Sidewalk and Bicycle Paths Roadways
Water Quality / Utilities Stormwater Drainage
Preserving the Environment Land Use
This meeting gives you a chance to join the planning process and share your priorities with county officials. As residents of Sugarmill Woods, we want to preserve our neighborhood’s character, maintain reliable roads and utilities, protect the environment, and support well-planned growth.
The meeting will be held on Monday evening, March 9, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Sugarmill Woods Country Club. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
We encourage you to invite your neighbors and friends to join you and participate in this informative session with the Citrus County planning staff. You will have the opportunity to gain insight into the planning process and contribute to ensuring that Sugarmill Woods is considered in shaping the future of Citrus County.
