Today was bittersweet and honestly a bit emotional for me. Just a little over 25 years ago, after working for other appraisal companies, my dad gave me an opportunity to come work with him. He didn’t give me anything along the way except the chance to prove myself in what was then a male-dominated industry, and I did just that. Not without growing pains, of course—a 20-something working for her dad, where could the line of boss and dad go wrong? Lol. He taught me many, many lessons over the years and didn’t just give me the answers, and I am so thankful for that. I had to knock on a lot of doors, work hard, and prove myself.
Look We had a lot of fun along the way—hosting a real estate radio show, being interviewed for newspapers and news broadcasts, hosting credited appraisal classes, all while providing credible appraisals and earning the respect of our industry colleagues. I’m so proud of all we have accomplished together over the years. Monday is my first day as the owner of Crawford Appraisers LLC and the official start of Tom’s retirement, but don’t worry, he will always be willing to talk real estate with anyone who calls him.
