What started as a relaxing day researching old photos of my home turned into a deeper appreciation for this incredible Downtown Springdale institution…
The museum preserves the history of six Ozark counties, caring for tens of thousands of artifacts and more than 500,000 historic photographs — including the largest public image archive in Arkansas.
The four-acre campus includes the main museum plus historic structures like a log cabin, 19th-century general store, doctor’s office, and Shiloh Meeting Hall.
Right now, the main building is undergoing its first major renovation since 1991 through the “Building History” campaign. Updates include improved accessibility, refreshed restrooms, a remodeled reception area, new carpeting, and better visitor flow — all ahead of this summer’s America’s 250th celebration. The $781,264 project follows a 2025 digital refresh with a new logo and website.
The museum is currently closed during renovations but will reopen later this month! ✨
