Today at the beach, something small hit me harder than all the headlines ever could.

A little boy — maybe 3 or 4 years old — was walking back from the shoreline with his parents. His mother wore a hijab, his father walked beside him, and he carried a little soccer ball under his arm. Dark eyes. Thick little eyebrows. Big innocent smile.

As he passed me, he waved goodbye like children do… pure, harmless, beautiful.

And all I could think about were the little boys & girls in Gaza.

The same dark eyes.
The same innocent smile.
The same love for a ball, a beach, a parent’s hand.

Children who should be laughing, running, and growing up are instead being buried under rubble and smoke while the world watches it unfold in high definition.

I don’t care what side anyone stands on politically anymore when it comes to children. A child is not a soldier. A baby is not an enemy.

That little boy at the beach reminded me that every child belongs to someone. Every child is somebody’s whole heart walking outside their body.

And maybe humanity is in trouble the moment we stop feeling shattered by the sight of innocent children dying.

Praying for peace.
Praying for mercy.
Praying for the children. 🙏
