When things go sideways, I like to fix them and get things done. The truth is, though, it’s not me who gets things done—it’s the people who hold me up.

Thursday night, Mother Nature threw quite the tantrum at our new office building, ripping up about 45 feet of our metal roof and allowing rain into the offices.

Thankfully, Josh Wasilewski happened to drive by, noticed a tree down, pulled in to check the property, and discovered the roof damage. So we got a quick start on what became a very long 24 hours.

My family immediately jumped into action, and a special thank you to the Maduena family as well.

To my work family, thank you for enduring a day of noise, fans, equipment, and complete chaos while we continued selling houses through the damage.

We had seven contractors on site with very little notice, and every one of them stepped up to help us mitigate damage and start putting things back together.

Much ❤️ to J.R. Reiser with Brooklynn Homes, who met with Peerless to assess the damage, create a plan, and then jumped in himself by cutting drywall and pulling team members from other jobs to help. Thank you to Peerless Cleaners, Howard Services, BNB Electric, Formea Insurance Group, Sunley Roofing, who pulled a large crew from another project to temporarily secure the roof, and 2 Sisters Design for helping remove all the blinds we had just installed.

I’m probably forgetting someone, and if I am, I apologize.

It will take months to get everything fully restored, but we’re back at work and ready to sell houses. It takes a village and they showed up.

I know many other people and businesses had damage this week so please be patient with people and pay it forward. If you want to help, I know the Animal Protective League got hit hard and are looking for financial resources to rebuild.
