Random Neighborhood Fact 🚋
If you’ve ever wondered why Thurman Avenue feels a little wider than some of the surrounding streets, there’s a reason.
Streetcars once ran right through this part of Shaw, connecting the neighborhood with other parts of St. Louis and helping shape the way the area grew.
You can still see little clues of that history today if you know what to look for, which is one of the things I love about these older city neighborhoods. There’s a story behind almost every block.
Just another piece of St. Louis history hiding in plain sight.
