Have you heard about the Compass vs. Zillow lawsuit? You probably haven’t—but it could reshape how homes are bought and sold in a major way.

Here’s what it means (in plain English):

🏠 Compass is challenging Zillow’s current rules, saying they’re designed to block innovation and limit seller options, especially for private and coming-soon listings.

⚖️ The case is based on antitrust laws—the same laws that broke up huge monopolies like Standard Oil and AT&T. If Compass wins (or even settles), it could open the doors to brand-new ways to market homes and give buyers and sellers more choices than ever before.

💡 What could happen:

More freedom for sellers to market their homes privately before going fully public

New platforms (beyond just MLS and Zillow) for searching and sharing listings

Greater privacy, flexibility, and creativity in how we list, stage, and showcase homes
