TIP LEADS TO A RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN BERKELEY LINKED TO A MISSING TEEN FROM 18 YEARS AGO

On Tuesday, March 31, the Berkeley Police Department, in coordination with St. Louis County authorities, investigated a residence located in the 6100 block of Jefferson Avenue, near Airport Road. This action was part of an ongoing effort regarding a significant missing person's case.

The case centers around 16-year-old Shemika Cosey, who mysteriously disappeared just before New Year's Eve in 2008 from the 6000 block of Napier. After receiving a crucial tip related to her disappearance, investigators conducted a thorough search of the property.

Authorities deployed a cadaver dog to assist in the investigation. In the backyard of the home, the dog signaled the possible presence of human remains. Initial reports confirm that small fragments were discovered, though the exact nature and origin of these fragments remain unclear.

Pathology experts are scheduled to examine the recovered fragments on Wednesday morning to determine whether they are of human or animal origin.
