If you are paying rent now look at what your rental payment converts to in a mortgage:
RENT: = EQUIVALENT LOAN AMOUNT:
$1,000 = $237,189
$2,000 = $474,379
$3,000 = $711,568
$4,000 = $707,568
$5,000 = $1,185,947
$6,000 = $1,423.136
$7,000 = $1,660,326
$8,000 = $1,897,515
$9,000 = $2,134,704
$10,000 = $2,371,893
You need 3-3.5% as a down payment for conforming loans up to $601,450 for 1 unit. (Multifamily units have higher loan limits). You need to put down 10% for jumbo loans above that amount but can do 5% up to $850,00 with certain lenders.
