Does the copper pot next to sing have some significance? Well…sort of. This was Daphne’s trash can. She put a grocery bag inside and used it for small trash items and food scraps.

Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just sharing what it was used for previously. Now it is just a countertop decoration.

Are dogs welcome at Daphne’s House? Yes!!! Daphne was an animal lover and she especially loved dogs. The cutie on the left is Teddy. He was Daphne’s. The cutie on the right is Osa. That is Daphne’s son’s dog.

Is there a story behind this purple fire hydrant? Simple answer is, yes. Daphne ”aquired” the fire hydrant in the 90’s from a friend of hers. Back then it was red. She brought it with her when she moved to Star Lake from Texas and at some point it was painted purple. Yes, it was a real fire hydrant. The statute of limitations has LONG expired. If anyone knows more details, please feel free to share.

What’s with the rabbit towel hooks in the bathroom. When Daphne lived in Texas she had a rabbit (named Amy). She used these towel hooks in Houston and brought them with her when she moved to Texas. Who else besides Katie Isch rememebers these from her time in Houston?

Why “Daphne’s House”? Daphne grew up in Star Lake, moved away, retired from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and then moved back to Star Lake. She bought this house and made it a home. She did a number of renovations but maintained much of the original characteristics.

She added beautiful furniture, did some landscaping, and made it much of what it is today. Daphne loved having guests over and hosting friends/family.

In 2022, Daphne passed away following a battle with cancer. Her son, Shane, opted to keep the house so it could be shared with family or other guests. Hence, “Daphne’s House”.

What do these all have in common? They are all Adirondack wine glasses…as well as Champaign glasses, beer glasses, coffee glasses, juice glasses, etc. on Star Lake you don’t need a “wine glass.”

Tag someone who you know has drank wine out of one of these glasses.

We have been asked about the lake access. Here is a video that shows the walk to the lake from the house (video taken in the spring). This lake access of part of the neighborhood association. (raft not included).
