I thought my marriage was the problem. It was California.
For years we snapped at each other over nothing. We were tired in a way sleep did not fix. We blamed work, money, the kids, each other.
We blamed everything except the place we were living.
Here is what nobody tells you. Chronic stress does not stay in your commute. It comes home. It sits at your dinner table. It gets into how you talk to the person you love.
We were not broken. We were drowning. We just could not see the water, because everyone around us was drowning too.
Then we moved to Star.
I am not going to tell you Idaho fixed our marriage. That is not how it works and I will not lie to you. The work was still ours to do.
But for the first time in years we had room to actually do it. No survival mode. No running on empty. Just space to be people again instead of two adults managing chaos.
That is the part nobody prepares you for. You do not just change your address. You get your nervous system back. And sometimes you get each other back too.
Not everyone should move here. Idaho is not a magic fix for a hard marriage.
But if you have quietly wondered whether the place is part of what is wearing you both down, you are not crazy for asking.
