Every timber fence does exactly one thing. It sits on a boundary line and slowly rots. Eventually, you pay to replace it. Germany has started replacing that math entirely. They are installing solar panel fences that cost less than wood to put up. They last decades longer with zero maintenance. And they turn a static property line into an active power plant. The brilliance is in the angle. Morning and evening sun sits low in the sky, exactly where roof panels struggle to catch it. Vertical panels take that low-angle light directly. Germany didn't invent a new type of solar. They just looked at the dead space bordering every yard and asked why it wasn't working. Now it is.

How could I not share this perfect pink house with matching blossoms and a scooter ready to ride.

The moment to complete this longstanding project had finally arrived. When We attempted to repaint the door a few years back I found the paint blistered. Sanding provided temporary relief. Further blisters appeared and I gave up. Following Co-vid 19 shutdown I commenced stripping the door, a labor-intensive endeavor, and concluded it was necessary to lay it flat for finishing. A four-year period passed and I suddenly realized the potential benefit of applying gel stain to revitalize it and Liquid Sandpaper for removing residual paint from the dentil molding and rough patches. While perfection remains elusive, I plan to seal it with satin polyurethane when weather conditions improve, thus safeguarding it against the strong afternoon sun.
I know, I need to straighten out that bow on the wreath.

Fifteen households have committed to buying into Rooted Northwest, a co-housing community near Arlington, WA, where 70 homes will be clustered on 240 acres of farmland with 93% of the land preserved for gardens, forest, and farming. The group pooled their money in 2020 to buy the land from an elderly farmer before developers could snap it up. "We can't afford to lose it. We have to help save it," says project manager and cofounder Dave Boehnlein.

Would you buy a 3D printed home? 🤔

A California startup has completed its first 3D-printed home in Yuba County, listing the 1,000-square-foot residence for $375,000, below the local market average. Built in 24 days using industrial-scale printers and precision-layered concrete, 4DIFY says future homes could be completed in as little as 10 days, offering a faster, more affordable alternative to traditional construction.

A decade ago, I would have dismissed the idea of utilizing window films; however, I have become a staunch advocate. They offer a straightforward solution that is easy to implement, providing privacy with minimal visual impact. Moreover, they can be removed without difficulty if desired. In my landing, a small window previously overlooks my neighbor's rear entrance. Despite attempting various decorative panels and tie-up shades, I was unsatisfied until I applied this film, appreciating its sleek appearance and ability to filter light.
