We need to check the power across the board and remove massive spend increases. Dark money has to go. If you're running for a seat, only people with a direct interest in that district should have influence. No super PACs, no undue influence. It should be a true ruling of the people, by the people. The whole system is insane how far we've gone.

A shocking security breach at OpenAI saw 17,000 commands executed before it could be stopped. This event is unlike anything seen before and highlights critical vulnerabilities.

With 83% voter support for term limits, why the delay? Silence breeds inaction. Our collective voice and organization are the only guarantees for change. It's time to make noise.

“It would take an act of Congress.”

That sentence has ended more Elephant Butte conversations than any drought ever did. It is also wrong.

Congress authorized a fifty-thousand acre-foot recreation pool at Elephant Butte in 1974. Never repealed. Still on the books. Reclamation confirms it in its own operating plan.

The piece that ended was the money. A ten-year appropriation that replaced what evaporated out of the pool, and it lapsed in 1984.

The funding went away. The space stayed.

We are not asking for something new here. We are asking to use what we already have.

Full record is in my brief on how to save Elephant Butte Lake.

New Mexico chile has dropped from roughly 34,000 acres to about 8,000 — nearly a 75% decline. Water reliability is the primary driver here. Labor plays a part too.

Pecans tell the same story from the other side. New Mexico is the top pecan producer in the country, and Doña Ana County has the largest pecan acreage of any county in the United States. Both crops trace back to this lake.

That's not just a statistic — it's the cost of waiting. And it compounds.

Folks, the more centered I get, the more time I find I'm spending outside. That's not an accident.

I have a friend who's gone through the academy. We were just talking about it this morning. He said, "I spend more time in nature now than ever before. The hours I used to spend doom scrolling — I just can't do it anymore."

That's the whole thing right there. It's not discipline forcing you outside — it's awareness pulling you there. Once you see how much peace was being stolen by a screen, you can't unsee it.

Proud to share that Notah Begay III has joined Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort as Founding Ambassador and Strategic Advisor.

This photo was taken in Atlanta on August 25, the night Notah received the PGA TOUR’s Payne Stewart Award. That award is not about wins. It goes to the player who best represents character, charitable work and sportsmanship. Four TOUR victories, decades on NBC Sports and Golf Channel, and the recognition he gets is for who he is off the course. That tells you everything about the man.

Notah is New Mexico. He knows what this state is and what it can be, and he has spent his career giving back to communities here in ways most people never see.

What we are building at Turtleback is not a resort that happens to sit in Sierra County. It is a reason for people to come to Sierra County. Having Notah involved from the ground floor changes what is possible.

There is real work ahead and I’m glad to be doing it alongside him.

Two years, side by side, and they tell you everything.

2023 was New Mexico’s eighteenth-driest year on record. Elephant Butte more than doubled.

2024 the weather acted normal yet lake dropped sixty percent.

If weather were running this reservoir, those two years would be flipped. They aren’t.

The drought is real but drought is not why this lake sits at 1.4%.

That is the difference between weather and plumbing. Nobody controls the weather. We absolutely control how water gets moved, stored, and accounted for.

I’ll take that trade every time, because plumbing is something a state can fix.

I pulled the full file and wrote up what I found. Link in bio.

Same delta. Two years apart.

2024: water in the marsh above Elephant Butte. 2026: dry ground where that marsh used to be.

Nature doesn't argue about this stuff. It just responds. The habitat that lived on that water is simply not there anymore — and it didn't take a decade to happen.

Here's what I keep coming back to: the communities around this lake didn't cause the drought, but they're absorbing every cost of it — tourism, property values, jobs, the whole local economy tied to a shoreline that keeps moving away from town.

Folks, that's fixable. Not overnight, and not by one agency acting alone — but it's fixable. It starts with everyone reading the same set of facts.

That's what this piece is for. Read it, then let's talk about what comes next.

Let's start the conversation.

We're not building The Academy to monetize it. We're not making a penny from it. That cuts against everything the world tells you to do — but that's exactly how I know we're onto something real.

Here's the truth: this is going to be rejected. Not because it's wrong. Because people don't like change.

They don't like change when it comes with work. And they really don't like change when it comes with work AND asks them to look inside.
